Wind Power Capacity Increases 36% Since 2007


The capacity of installed wind generators has reached 121,000 Megawatts during 2008. Mainland China has built up a wind power capacity of 6,246 Megawatts, Sinovel of course being the largest domestic producer of wind turbines at a 22% market share.

Worldwide 27,000 Megawatts were added in 2008, a increase of 36.2% year on year. U.S. capacity increased 33% in this period also.

China to Build $18 Billion Wind Farm


China has begin construction on a new 120 billion yuan wind power project in Gansu Province, Jiuquan City and should have 20 gigawatt capacity.

This project dubbed "The Three Gorges Damn on Land", is part of a effort to boost renewable energy and cut coal usage.
